Caribbean cruise routes - know where to go
7000 islands waiting to be discovered

There are over 7000 islands in the Caribbean. Some have a paradise-like reputation. The Virgin Islands, Aruba and Jamaica for example. But even the less known and famous are worth setting sail for. The broad variety of islands and the fact that the sun is (almost) always smiling at you, make the Caribbean a perfect cruise destination. To be honest: a Caribbean cruise is my favorite cruise. I’ve been to most of the islands and I hope you will be as fortunate as I have been. A Caribbean Cruise? If you can visit even one of the islands, your life will never be the same?

Like I said; there are over 7000 islands in the Caribbean. That makes it the best cruise destinations in the world. It took me my entire professional life to visit (I think) 43 Caribbean islands. Because there are so many, the possibility of visiting the same island in your next cruise is next to nothing. So when you are there, enjoy your stay and make the most of it.

The Caribbean Islands offer visitors a wide choice of vistas, people and places to meet and mingle with. You like the beaches? The Caribbean are the perfect spot. There are lots relaxing and nice beaches in the Caribbean. You like to dive? To swim? To do some exotic shopping? Try food you never heard of? It’s all there! Enjoy!

Here are the basic Caribbean Cruise routes.

Western Caribbean Cruise Route From Texas, Louisiana and Florida the Western Caribbean Cruise Route goes to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico and then to the island of Cozumel. After the island of Cozumel it will head to Jamaica and then to the island of Honduras and Belize.

Eastern Caribbean Cruise Route From Florida and to the other seaport in the eastern part of the US, to the Key West Sea to the Bahamas to the Turks and Caicos Islands and to the Virgin Island including Puerto Rico. This route is the most popular cruise route among the other Caribbean cruises.

Southern Caribbean Cruise Route From San Juan, Puerto Rico, this route goes to Lesser Antilles and the Netherlands Antilles and it extends up to the west in Aruba.

Exotic/Long-duration Caribbean Cruise Route This route can start with any of the given routes or destinations. It can go in any route and sometimes the route doesn’t end at the port where it begins.

It is very hard to determine which Island and which routes you should take. For me, I mean. It’s all up to you. Do some homework on the places you want to visit. There are lots of activities that you can do to enjoy the cruise. There are lots of wonderful places to see. You want to know my favorite destinations? Here is my small list of the must see Islands in the Caribbean.

1. St Croix (Virgin Islands)
In the St. Croix you can go kayaking, visit the landing site of Christopher Columbus and go to the Salt River National Park.

2. Grenada
Grenada is great for visitors who want to experience scuba diving at its finest. In Grenada, you can see the largest shipwreck in the Caribbean. Grenada has lots of underwater volcano. This place has been devastated by the hurricane named Ivan during 2004 but still, this place is worth visiting.

3. St. Thomas (Virgin Islands)
This is perfect for snorkeling. You can go snorkeling at the Cinnamon Bay National Park. The water around St. Thomas is shallow and you can see numerous underwater lives.

4. Jamaica
Go to the Montego Bay and make an effort in Bamboo rafting. Be aware: you will get wet :)

5. Puerto Rico
Visit one of the most famous beaches in the world the Condado Beach. Paradise? This is almost as close as you will ever get.

6. Aruba
Hey, what can I say. I’m Dutch and therefore biased. But let me tell you; there are 365 beaches! If you are looking for a place to relax and to be one with nature, then go in the beaches of Aruba. This is the paradise of the Caribbean.

7. St Kitts
Did you ever see pink sand beaches? Neither did I. But here they are. And… lots (lots!) of turtles.

Information Overload?
I know how you feel. There is too much information. It makes you feel like a kid in a candy store. So exited that you do not know what to pick. But relax. I invite you to read some more articles on my website. Give it some time. Eventually your perfect Caribbean cruise is out there and right now, without you knowing it, it is settling in your mind. Again; give it some time.

Want to know more about The Caribbean? Read the article I wrote on that topic. And did you know you can submit your own articles about cruises on this site for the world to see? Isn’t that fun? Go to ‘Submit articles’ on the left side and you’ll see how easy it is. I love to hear your cruise stories!

Cruise and have Fun!
